BASEBALL TRAINING BUILDING BLOCKS FOR ALL AGES

JANUARY 18, 2022 | FRANK CINICOLA

As a parent of a baseball player, sifting through a seemingly endless sea of information on the best way for your player to train and practice can be overwhelming. We are here to help. Diamond Kinetics makes things easy by breaking down your player’s training by age group, sport, and how to use the SwingTracker and PitchTracker in our training building blocks: Establish Benchmarks, Set Your Goals, and Train, Analyze, Improve, Repeat.

Build Your Foundation (Ages 8-11)

In this age group, hitters will want to focus on skills that will build a foundation for future success at the plate. It is key for players at this level to get in a high volume of reps. These reps should focus on developing barrel speed and a consistent contact point out in front of the plate.

Grow Your Game (Ages 12-14)

At this level, the focus is on a combination of reps and quality output concentration. It’s time for hitters to build their “swing engine”, swinging fast while refining mechanics as the quality of opposing pitchers improves. The hitter at this level should try to get their barrel to top speed as quickly as possible.

Sharpen Your Tools (Ages 15+)

HItters at this level can focus on the quality of each and every swing in training. Quantity of swings is still important for development, but each swing needs to have a clear intent to maximize training time. Hitters at this level should be fine-tuning the swing and preparing to face quality live pitching.

Travel Team Baseball: Using SwingTracker For Player Development (Part 2)

OCTOBER 29, 2020 | ABBI NICOLELLA

PITTSBURGH – Player Development is a huge part of every travel team’s dilemma. You want to win games, but do you sacrifice the development of some of your players in order to get the on-field results you want.

Two Pittsburgh-based travel teams have found a way to do both – win games and develop players – with the help of Diamond Kinetics SwingTracker Bat Sensor.

Here’s how…

The Pittsburgh Outlaws Travel Team uses Diamond Kinetics SwingTracker Technology to help their players improve their swing, including exit velocity, launch angle and approach angle (sometime referred to as attack angle). Outlaws President Ron Wuenstel lends his insight into the process of how that happens.

METRICS WITH MONTE: MAX ACCELERATION (VIDEO)

MARCH 5, 2020 | ABBI NICOLELLA

CLEMSON, S.C. – Clemson Baseball Head Coach Monte Lee gives insight into how weight training & drill work can help improve a player’s Max Acceleration.

Coach Lee also tells us how weighted bat training factors into evaluating Max Acceleration for his Tiger program.

“With Max Acceleration I like to look at, is the weight room work that they’re putting in helping the player. Are they getting stronger.”

“We do a lot of weighted bat implements in our training to get the players stronger so they can impact the ball more and accelerate the bat more.”
